[A small blond teen in a new feather dress climbs out of the fountain, soaked from the knees down. She scrambles to get away and ends up running through the village a little before slipping and having a giant fall. This fall knocks her journal open. The recording was pressed on by accident, and the book is upside down so there is no picture. There is only:]

[Well, that's alarming. Kurt kind of doesn't go after New Feathers much, given his appearance, but right now no one else is in the market and the poor girl's soaked and has her face in the dirt. So he hops off the roof he's hanging out on and kneels down next to her.]

Y-yes, I... [She tries to get up and look at the person beside her. She has small scrapes on her, and small tears well up in the corners of her eyes - just like a small child.]

[And then she sees Kurt. Her eyes grow wide. The first thing she thinks? DEMON. It's the first thing she had accused Rin of being, but now she regrets it, so the only words she can manage are:]

You're blue!

[bamfing]

[Well. That's not the worst reaction to get.]

Well, Papa Smurf couldn't make it. Don't worry, I won't hurt you, okay?

I'm okay. [If he say he won't hurt her, she'll believe him. She tries to stand. The girl is a little wobbly, but she makes it up.] And what's a Smurf?

[Well he won't quite be grabbing her arm to keep her stable, but he's hovering nearby just in case.]

It's a long story. And you're going to freeze out here. Come on, let's get you inside, yeah? [The clothing store is near, so he'll guide her there.]

[...That is a familiar sounding sound of being lightly injured. Rin narrows his eyes, where has he heard that before... :|a ]

[There's a small whimper as Shiemi tries to right herself - she also talks to herself.]

I don't remember it being this cold.

Shi-Shiemi?!

[He blurts that out before, well, heading out the door and forgetting his journal. to look for her.

Because he's so smrt]

[Voice]

Rin!? [She's sitting upright now, and looks frantically around for him. Where did his voice come from? Did she imagine it?]

NOT QUITE [action]

[NOPE. He he also doesn't reply. He's taken to looking around the roads in town to try to find her. Maybe he should go the forest... she's cold, after all!]

[ voice ]

[ ... Well, that's quite the odd message to find on this thing. ]

[ So helpful and empathic, Ange. But no, okay, it seems after that deadpan statement she does ask. ]

A-a voice?! Where are you coming from? [Shiemi looks around. There's no one there.]

[ Oh, a new arrival, huh. ]

From the book-like thing. The journal. It's a communication device, so I'm speaking to you through that.

[The book? Um... like the telephone they have at the shop? But it has no wires. There's a bit of rustling, and Shiemi picks up the book.]

H-hello? Miss Voice?

... Ange. My name is Ange, before some ridiculous nickname like 'Miss Voice' sticks.

[ Yup, the voice is still coming from the book, as deadpan as it was before. ]

Please don't mistake all of this, the journal doesn't have its own voice. It's just me talking through it.

[ Well that's certainly a dramatic entrance. Firo approaches her cautiously, in case she gets up and tries to bolt again. ]

Uh, you okay, miss?

[ He leans down and holds his hand out to help her up. ]

[She makes a small whimper as she pulls her face from the dirt. She isn't quite upright enough to take his hand yet.]

A-am I in your way? Sorry I fell in the middle of the road...

Huh?

[ He blinks a few times in surprise before giving her an amused smile. It's tinged with unease, though. She seems scared already and the New Feather talk will probably just make things worse. ]

No, you're not. And don't apologize for somethin' like that, it's an accident. Are you okay?

[Action]

I think so? [Shiemi tries to stand. Her knees shake a little, and she has a few scrapes, but other than that she seems fine.]

You don't look too beat up. Are you cold?

[ The November weather wouldn't be kind to someone in that dress, especially if they were just in a fountain. It also gives Firo some reason to postpone breaking the really bad news. ]

...Did you fall into the fountain too?

[It might take her a while, but after all the help from other people and figuring out how to work the journals a little bit, Shiemi finally responds.]

Oh, d-did my recording bother you? I'm sorry.

No, I wouldn't say bothered. Actually, I managed to do that yesterday, too, when I got here.
