[Once they've returned to the village, Shu went to check up on Shiemi. The mountain was no place for them. Shiemi kept pushing herself to make sure they had enough food and the weather didn't help either. He's so worried about her.]

Shiemi?

How are you feeling?

I- [She cuts herself off. How is she feeling? Physically? Emotionally? Were they even her feelings? After dancing with Tutu, and learning some of those feelings were not her own, it's been really confusing.]

Sorry, I don't know.

[He knows that Shiemi's been through a lot. That's an understandable response.]

It's okay. You're going to be fine. I believe in you.

I'm so sorry I did that to you.

Don't worry about it. I'm not angry with you.

You gave me time to think.

D-don't say that! Don't try to save my feelings just because we're friends! I did something bad, and I know it!

It's not "okay." But I really am sorry.

Shiemi, I'm not saying that because we're friends. It's how I really feel.

I'll accept your apology. Please, don't be so hard on yourself. [He could really eat his own advice.]

I still feel guilty. It was hard on you up there, wasn't it?

[What if she had let him freeze? What if she had killed him - like her grandmother? The thought makes her queasy.]

[He falls silent for a few minutes. It's true, it was hard staying up there. One particular word catches his interest and it's guilt. Shu always feels guilty for everything he does.

Shiemi is actually very similar to him. He's starting to realize it now and he doesn't think it's a good thing.]

I'm sure. [He smiles and reaches out to shake her hand.]

[She reaches out, but before she takes his hand.]

Are we still friends?

We'll be friends for life.

[He means that too.]

[She inhales sharply and pulls her hand back. Her eyes grow wide, and begin to shine as tears well up in the corners of her eyes.]

After- after all that?

I wouldn't have said it if I didn't mean it. [He sounds sure as well. This quote may have been inspired by Gai.

Shiemi gave him another chance, so why can't he do the same for her?]

[She holds her face in her hands, and quickly closes any distance between them. Quickly she rests her forehead on his chest, and sobs loudly.]

Thank you, thank you! I'm sorry.

[He pats her on the head to calm her down. ]

You don't have to thank me that much. [Eventually he decides that he'll let Shiemi apologize to him as much as she wants. It might make her feel better.]

N-no, I should! You're too kind, I- I made you go through so much and you still want to be friends. F-f-for so long. Thank you.

Don't worry. [He offers her words of comfort.]

Keep your chin up, Shiemi. You're fine. Can you show me a smile?

[She sniffs, and wipes away her tears.]

A-ah, I'll try! Is... is this enough? [Her expression is a little twisted because she's trying to smile, but also trying not to cry as much anymore.]

[A nod.]

Thank you, Shiemi. [She's really trying and he can tell. Shiemi deserves some thanks for that.]

C-can I make it up to you?
