[The Voice function on the journal starts up, but instead of Shiemi's voice it's Rin's:]

Ossu. It's me, Rin -- I lost my journal a while ago and I still haven't find the thing. 'M using Shiemi's just for a bit to make sure anyone who doesn't know, knows. [...] Uh, I can't really keep using this, so if you wanna come talk meet me at House 15?

[People can find Shiemi doing one of two things today:

1) In the sky people can see Shiemi practicing with her now very large (now full grown at five feet and seven inches) skarmory. She'll stand on her Pokémon's back as if she were surfing, ride on its back like it's a horse, or - this one has her particularly frightened - practice falling. Shiemi stands up, lets herself fall backwards off of Skarmy, and then Skarmy swoops back around to catch her. Honestly they hope never to put the skill to use for real, but they might have to use it.

2) After they're done the duo go back to the house (#15) to rest. Shiemi treats Skarmy to some spicy foods, and while the large bird starts preening its feathers... some steel feathers fall off! Skarmy is has started molting, and leaving large, sharp metal feathers everywhere. Oops!]

Oh... I didn't know. Are they really that much alike?

Kind of, but people don't usually interact with the monsters in my world. They usually just try to stay away from them instead.

Oh, are the monsters in your world scary?

Some of them are, but some of them are pretty cute. The one I have with me here looks a lot like a cat. I don't think anyone would call him scary.

[Oh wait. She remembers back when she was a Pokémon herself. He did have that thing, and it was pretty cute. But now she's pretty embarrassed about the past.]

... is something wrong? Don't worry, he's not a mean monster or anything.

[He misinterprets her surprise, because she wouldn't be the first person to react that way upon hearing that he has a monster.]

N-no, it's okay! I am surprised to hear the word "monster" be used nicely! That's all.

Oh... I guess that is kind of strange in most worlds. People usually think of monsters as something scary. But Pokemon aren't frightening at all either.

Yes, you're right! I'll try not to think of all monsters as scary things now. Maybe one day I can see yours?

Sure! Sial always loves meeting new people. I bet he'd even like to meet Skarmy too-- they'd probably get along pretty well. Um... she doesn't eat meat or anything, right?

She does, but Skarmy is well behaved.

[Okay so the bird is vain and very much a brat, but that won't endanger Sial.]

Then they should be just fine. She'd probably be happy to make some new friends too... wouldn't you?

[That last "wouldn't you" is directed to the Pokemon-- hopefully she understands what he's saying!]

[Skarmy makes a gesture that's almost like a shrug seeming like she doesn't care about making friends... But she totally does, so she turns her head away so it doesn't show. Perhaps the bird is a bit tsundere.]

I think it would be great for her!

Okay! We should introduce them sometime, then. Um, preferably after they've both already eaten, just in case.

Skarmy doesn't eat pets. It should be okay!

[Wildlife is fair game though.]

She does seem pretty nice if she'd catch you like that when you fell.

She just takes a while to make friends, that's all!

Mm-hmm! Pokémon can sometimes be like people.

Sounds like monsters too. They really aren't as different from us as a lot of people think they are.
