[Is he going to spill the beans on something she seriously doesn't need to know? Again?]

[Poor Shiemi. She puts up with Shu enough to know how this routine works. ]

I had an older sister. Mana was always so kind to me and Gai.

We were all close back then. It's nothing like how we are now. Can you even imagine that? We never fought each other as kids.

Oh... you and Gai were childhood friends?

Uh huh. [Nodding.]

We found him at the shoreline. He seemed lost and it was my sister's decision to gave him a name.

After that we quickly became best friends. We're not kids anymore and you know me and Gai. Things changed a lot.

Y-yeah...

[She's not really sure she has a place knowing this- especially since this is partly Gai's story, and she doesn't know him very well.]

This time of year's difficult for us.

That's why I'm really grateful that we've spent so much time having fun before. You gave us something that weren't able to do back home, Shiemi.

So thank you.

U-um, you're welcome?!

[But she didn't even do anything!?]

I don't know. [He scratches the back of his head nervously.]

Thank you. [Shu falls completely silent for a moment.]

There's a small favor I'd like to ask from you. You don't really have to listen to me because I've caused you so much trouble already.

Um...what kind of flower would you leave at a grave?

Red spider lilies? Those are tradition, but you can put any flower you'd like.

Hmm...red spider lilies. [Nodding.] I think my parents would appreciate them.

Will you come pray with me later? Only for a short while. [This is the real favor Shu's asking for. Shiemi sounds busy so he does feel like he's asking a lot.]

Oh! Do you want to come by my house later? I'm throwing a birthday party for Rin.

Of course. [Shiemi's so nice to everyone around her. Whatever happened between them before didn't matter to Shu. They're friends now and that's what's important.]

I'd be happy to.

Great! He's sad because his twin brother isn't around to share his birthday, so I want to make it happy for him.

[Wait really? Rin always looked so upbeat and energetic. It's a little difficult for Shu to imagine.]

I'm so sorry. Rin's nice and friendly. I haven't known him for very long.

But, I get the feeling that he's very important to you. [Shiemi cares so much about Rin. Shu almost shares the same sentiment. He's trying to speak as gently as he can. Rin and Shiemi must be going through a lot.]

You can make him happy. Just believe that you can.

[Shu you're slightly off target. But that's all right.]

So you'll be at the party? I've been decorating all day.

[He's not very bright, but he tries.]

With what? [Shu thinks Shiemi will decorate it with plants. ]

Oh! With Christmas stuff? Garland, and um. Those balls that you hang up?

[She makes a motion with her hand as if she was hanging a bauble up on a tree.]

What's that supposed to be? [He blanks for a moment as he thinks about it.] Is that a bauble?

I'm sure it'll look fantastic.

You should see it for yourself! A-anyway, from what you said earlier... did you set up graves for your parents here?

[That's a little strange.]

Of course. [His eyes widen at that question.]

Nothing like that, no. My mother passed away when she gave birth to me and my father died during a catastrophic event. There was never anything in his grave to begin with.

I can't think straight unless I spend time talking to them. Sorry for burdening you with this.

No, it's all right. Did you have a specific place in mind to do it?

Good question. [He sits there thinking for a moment. It didn't matter to him really.]

Anywhere quiet will do. Are you sure you don't mind coming along with me?
