[It's been way, way too long. It's been only eight days in all. less than a week. On the morning of the 29th he found a Kin'coran refugee shot through the head, then the farm raid and all it's chaos, and then other things which happened before they went back. And when they did, Cloche went mad the next day. He's still not positive how she's doing. And on the, earlier today.

Precis is dead.

He's really not sure how to handle it. Dead, like how his dad was or how that refugee was. Did she even have a corpse? Did it vanish without a proper burial too? And he wasn't there. Sure died on one of those missions, doing a favor for the enemy, wasn't she? Or...

Maybe it's more complicated than that? Maybe he should have been doing this before now. Maybe he could have-

He's a mess. He's distraught, lost, and curled up on the couch with Midori the turtle in his lap. He's cried a lot before now, and the worst of it, really, is all his physical wounds feel much better now. But he can't muster the anger to go and fight in the Dome or something]

[Shiemi watches him on the couch from a doorway. The girl walks in, but doesn't sit down. She... doesn't know what to do in this situation. What do friends do? Do they sit down? Do they talk about it? Or do they respect space?]

Rin?

A..ah? [He glances up at her. Or well, sidelong. But... there's Shiemi. He should get over himself to help her. She's gotta have her problems too]

Ri-Rin... are you...? [She reaches out a hand to touch his shoulder.]

Am I...? [Not that he resists it or anything]

Okay? [She knows he's not, but she doesn't know what to say to get it out of him.]

I... I.. [...No, he's really not. He's crying just a little, but he brushes his eyes clear just a little. Okay. He can't smile, but..]

[Shiemi picks up Midori, sets the turtle to the side for a moment, and hugs Rin. The blond wraps her arms around him, and pulls him in to hold him. His head may or may not be resting on her bosom.]

I'm here. For you.

I... [Biting his lip and-] She's dead, Shiemi. Dead, out there outta this damn barrier!

[And that's not even all of it. But it's what's central right now. He can't even notice where his head is. He's started to cry in earnest again]

[Honestly she's not sure how to make this better. The both know how much it hurts when someone dies. Her grandmother, his father... It's sad, it happens, it hurts... and words don't make that disappear.]

I... am sure she would be glad that you care so much, Rin. [She shifts their positions so she can sit on the couch with him, and continue to hold him.]

Iunno, she could be sort of mean... [He hangs his head. what's he doing, speaking ill of the dead?] Kinda like Eyebrows, I guess.

W-well any girl should be happy you care so much Rin! [Even Izumo-like girls.]

You think?

[He has delicate feelings right now.

So delicate?]

Yes? Rin is a nice guy, and I would be glad if you cared.

...I... [Cloche. The bullet. The farm. Silver. And now Precis. He starts to tear up and snot again, but collapses himself into Shiemi] I just wanna not have 'em... get all messed up!

[Shiemi continues to hold him, as she's pretty sure this is a thing she's supposed to be doing.]

It's not Rin's fault.

I haven't been going on those damn- miss... missions, and she's doing that and- And I was the one helping Cloche and she... [He wimpers a bit here]

[Shiemi shifts again, and cups his face in her hands. This is hard to tackle, but she remembers when Rin snapped her out of it when she first met him.]

Rin! You can't go back and fix it, but- But when they get back to normal you can try to make it better? Do you think they'd want you to blame yourself?

No... No, I don't figure they would.

[He doesn't even know if Cloche is normal. Maybe she is. Maybe she isn't. He bites his lip]

So it's okay to be sad, but don't think it's your fault.

...Precis got blown up, Shiemi. Blow up.

[He says this very quietly] An..and during that thing with Kin'cora. I found some guy shot through the head.

[Shiemi's heart sinks along with her gaze. She doesn't know how to handle that. She wishes she knew more about the world so that she could actually help Rin with this. The girl is ill equipped for this role.]

It ain't even demons! I mean, there's some, I fought one... but... but these're people doing things like this!

[He shouts this, painted, frustrated, his flames (not burning anything, just there) starting to encircle him and Shiemi]
