[It's a beautiful day today! The sun is shining, but it's not particularly hot. Perfect weather. Just perfect. So today Shiemi ends up taking a nap just off the road on her way to the plaza. The girl and her Skarmory end up spending most of their day there enjoying the river and the small open space of grass by it. She can be caught napping, playing with her pokemon, talking to the plants, or splashing around a little in the shallow part of the water. And later she'll ask a question in the journals.]

What's your favorite thing to do on a sunny day?

Ah -- it's not that it's bad, exactly.... But I feel bad for you. The real ocean is an amazing place. It's not that the one here isn't great, too, but...the ocean is just beautiful.

It's really that different?

Mmm...I guess it's not a huge difference, besides that it's different depending on where you are, anyway. I don't know if I can properly describe it. It's more like...the difference between a normal village and "home."

[...Oh dammit, thinking about this sort of thing is making her feel a bit homesick.]

Um...I don't know, really. At least -- I'm not really sure how to use the Battle Dome. It looks pretty complicated.

Silver has been helping set up Pokémon battles, so if you tell me about it an Ocean shouldn't be hard!

[Pokey-whatsit...? Oh, right, that little knife bird.]

It's worth a try, I guess. Who's Silver?

[She...assumes it's a person? But what a stupid name.]

He's a good friend of mine! His Murkrow was Skarmy's dad.

There's more metal birds around here?

[She wrongly assumes that Pokémon genetics make sense. It's a good thing that there are these beast tamer-like people about to keep them under control, though.]

No, Murkrow is isn't a skarmory. He's... like a big crow. Skarmy's mom was a skarmory.

...That's.... [She stops short of saying impossible as she thinks to her Luceti house, where she looks after a child who is half human, half Ferines. ...Okay, cross-species children isn't quite so impossible.]

...a little odd.

It's just that...most of the time, parents are of the same kind, right?

[Maybe it's like two different dogs having a kid.]

"Birds" is a pretty wide category.

[Though, granted, she wouldn't really be able to explain why she thinks that there's a bigger difference between a crow (...assuming either Melfes has those or she's seen them here) and a giant metal bird than between dog breeds.]

Maybe Pokémon are just special?

I guess so. I'm not the person to ask -- I have no idea about those things.

[Other than they probably aren't dangerous as long as their trainers aren't since they seem to be tame.]
