[So what if it's cold today? That won't stop Shiemi, or her new partner Skarmy. The two are determined- Okay, maybe more so Shiemi than the metal bird, but nevertheless they are both out training today. On the edge of the forest a teen girl and a two to three foot metal baby bird can be found practicing moves. So far Taunt and Drill Peck are the only ones Shiemi has recognized.

Before lunch they walk together around the plaza to take a break, and finally about an hour after noon the pair will head to Community Building One. Maybe she can ask Rin to make them lunch. He makes her dinners often enough, but... it's her Birthday. Today she'll want to indulge in his cooking instead of her usual guilty acceptance of her kindness. ...She should learn how to make edible food one day, really.

And that's it. She doesn't make this day a big deal because... well when your world is just your house your birthdays don't tend to be big anyway. Plus: how does I birthday with friends?]

[Okay so having Yukio around is a total buzzkill, he's concluded two days in. Total. Buzzkill.

Which is why he is carrying back a stack of manga he found in the library and "snuck" out in a bag to go hide in his bedroom so Yukio can't have it about the same time shiemi is coming home to C1]

[So the sixth is Moriyama's birthday. It's not like he remembers or anything or that he has her and everyone else's birth dates on file back home. But he does, and here's Yukio walking out in the plaza holding a simple box with a present inside. He's already been here a few days and he's already on the ball with birthdays, aw yeah.

He's pretty happy with what he picked out, if he does say so himself, and--]

[IS THAT A BIRD MADE OF METAL. AND IS THAT SHIEMI. WHAT.

Urge to ask what exactly that bird thing is, but also urge to keep the present a surprise. Unsure what do. UHM. He really doesn't want to leave her with some sharp, pointy metal bird thing...

[When Shiemi spots Rin she rushes over to the boy while waving.]

Riiiiin! [Skarmy follows, and immediately starts getting into trouble by poking at the bag with her beak.]

[The baby skarmory notices him first. Yukio isn't too far from Shiemi when it goes to bother him. Skarmy inspects him. Huh... looks a little like that awkward Rin guy, but is definitely a different person.

...Skarmy gives Yukio an unimpressed look, and just as she does Shiemi notices him.]

Yuki-chan!

[touchofrogue]

[As they walk around the plaza, Rogue catches a glimpse of them out of the corner of her eye and--

What.

The heck.

[Claude's heading through the plaza to the grocery store to do a little stocking up on food for his housemates, but on the way there, he notices Shiemi and her metal baby bird and he can't help but stop and stare at them.

Because wow, that thing does not look friendly at all.]

[Shiemi sits down at the fountain as the skarmory hops up. She (the skarmory) admires her own reflection in the pool of water. ...The pokemon is a bit vain.]

[Shiemi is actually paying attention to something else when Skarmy catches Claude's gaze. The pokemon ruffles it's... "feathers" at him, and squawks, almost challenging him to come over.

Skarmy used Taunt.]

[And that of course is a knife-sharp beak which is ripping the bag a bit. Her snarls, pulling it away and considers punching Skarmy in the face but he's got no idea how Shiemi would react]

Ossu!

[...uh. Yeah.]

Everythin' all right over there?

[...what is happening here. He doesn't understand. It looks kind of angry, so he doesn't approach, but calls out to Shiemi instead. She seems distracted, so he should probably ask—]

Um, excuse me? Is that... bird thing yours?

[Skarmy squawk at Rin, upset that what she was inspecting was taken away.]

How are you today?

[shamelessness]

H-huh? [She looks at Rogue, and then at the skarmory.]

Of course! Um, why do you ask...?

[Shiemi turns around.]

Y-yes! She is! [The girl seems proud.]

[mirrorblade]

Oh! [Hey, he recognizes that voice...! That encourages him to approach despite Skarmy's taunting.] Hey, Shiemi. I hope this doesn't sound weird, but... um, what is it?

[Well excuse you metal bird thing. He has his eyes on you as he turns to address Shiemi, all four of them.]

Shiemi! It's nice to see you out today. [...] What is that exactly?

[shamelessness]

Skarmy is a pokémon! She and I are partners now.

[Though the bird is now bored with the conversation, and makes her way over to the fountain to look at herself.]

That's Skarmy! She's my pokémon.

[sharpness]

[That explained nothing.]

I see. [...] Where exactly did you find a bird made of metal?

[shamelessness]

Her egg was left in my garden.

[sharpness]

Whilst I'm sure you only wanted the best for the egg I'm not so sure how safe it is to have a bird like this around.

[She looks sharp. And very pointy. And he has no idea how to approach someone having a pet metal bird at all.

Just going to lean in and tilt his glasses a little to closer inspect the Skarmory.] Is 'Skarmy' well behaved?

Skarmy can be a little naughty sometimes, but she means well! If we train enough, I'll get to know her better and maybe she'll listen more.
